I fell in love with this site last year when Martha Stewart Living endorsed the Hi-Tec C pens. Is it not just the most adorable thing you ever saw?
After my first order, I knew Tokyo Pen Shop and I were in a committed relationship. The shipping is lightning-fast, and your order comes packaged in a cute little envelope with a personal, hand-written note from shop owner Kimberly.
So, I emailed Kimberly to ask if she would donate some pens for a giveaway on Same Old Shannon, and I was beyond thrilled when she said yes. Seriously, right after I got the email from Kimberly, I wrote the following Facebook status in a haze of excitement:
So, the giveaway:
One lucky winner will receive 6 Hi-Tec C pens from Tokyo Pen Shop! Here's an image of the Hi-Tec C collection from the website:
The specific colors the winner will receive are:
- black
- green
- violet
- sapphire blue
- pompadour blue
- wine red
The winner will receive pens with 0.5-mm tips, although the site offers 0.3-mm and 0.4-mm tips as well.
Here's how you enter:
Leave a comment here with an answer to the following question:
You've just gone back to school with a pencil case full of Hi-Tec C pens! Your teacher asks you to write an essay on what you did over the summer. What do you write? (For blog comment purposes, this can be a 1-3 sentence summary, not a 5-paragraph essay.)
But wait! There's more!
If you "like" Tokyo Pen Shop's Facebook page, come back here and tell me in a separate comment for an extra chance to win. (The comment can be, "I liked Tokyo Pen Shop on Facebook.")
This contest is open until Sunday, August 28 until 11:59 CST. After that I will go to random.org and have it generate a number, and the person who left that comment number will win! I'll announce the results Monday, August 29 and ask the winner to send me an email with his or her address, which I will pass onto Tokyo Pen Shop.
But that's not all!
Even if you don't win, you can still get a 15% discount on all purchases at Tokyo Pen Shop by entering code "SHANNON" at checkout. The discount is valid until October 1, and shipping is always free on orders of $25 or more shipped within the United States.
Okay, go enter the giveaway! Good luck! And thanks a whole heaping lot to Tokyo Pen Shop, not only for giving away free pens, but for making my entire month as well!

1. I love Tokyo Pen Shop and point fellow pen-lovers to it all the time.
2. I would talk about learning salsa dancing on my summer vacation. I'm still not very good but I'm having a great time.
Oh, and I ALREADY liked Tokyo Pen Shop on Facebook.
Tokyo Pen Shop is the best!
I would write a gripping essay on adopting my new cat and the hijinks she and my other cat and dog got into over the summer vacation.
I also ALREADY like Tokyo Pen Shop on Facebook.
I love Tokyo Pen Shop, too. I'd write about all the cool new pens (and pencils) I've bought this summer.
Tokyo Pen Shop is AWESOME! I love pens and I make sure those around me know how valuable a quality writing instrument is :)
I would write my essay on my recent adventure to Las Vegas and describe how I was able to burn into my memory all the wonderful lights and sounds!
I have already "Liked" Tokyo Pen Shop on Facebook, once I heard about High-Tec-C pens (especially the Lumino) I was hooked for life :)

This summer? I can sum it up by saying that I stayed out of the horrendous heat as much as possible - I read and crafted and napped!
The older I get the more the heat just "slays" me!

It was the summer of adventure! I scoured the beaches of Cape Cod in search of buried treasure. I went snorkeling, imagining that I was a shark patrolling the ocean. I hiked through the forest, pretending I was on a deserted island. It was great!

This summer was one of discovering the many talents of wee ones who are now young adults. The little five year old who is now a terrific father. The anxious seven year old who ventured out into the world of live stage. Marvelous little marvels.
I love the colors and artful layout of Tokyo Pen Shop's Facebook page.
This summer I took care of my 4 year old and twin 18 month-olds while pregnant. So glad preschool starts for the oldest next week!
I spent all summer taking photos around Michigan. Now I am planning my fall colors trip.
Love my Hi Tec C .4 mm's, would love some .5 mm!!
I like Tokyo pen shop on Facebook!
This summer I made my first wedding cake for my brother's wedding, an epic adventure!
And I defnitely liked Tokyo Pen Shop! I'd love it if I could!
My essay would be about how I spent a lot of my summer with my 80-something parents, doing seemingly mundane errands, including many visits to doctors, dentists, and the grocery store, and how this turned out to be one of the most enjoyable summers of my whole life.

...and now, I very much like Tokyo Pen Shop!
p.s. How cool that you are now both a blogger AND a Discount Code!

I spent the summer moving in to a new house. While it was pretty cool finding things that we put in storage 18 months ago, the real take away was that we don't need (or want) about 1/3 of our belongings.
I also love pens.
I was reminded why I love California because sometimes with all the crowds of people, crime and generally bad attitudes of many I forget. We traveled to the Western Caribbean and saw the poverty and melted in the humidity and heat. I even met a man whose mother perished in the Haiti earthquake.
Back to reality, I too love pens and I don't know why I don't pitch the ones I don't like, I always avoid them!
I didn't even know about this shop until I read your tweet on Twitter. Now I have to see (and use) these pens just to see what all the hype is about!
This summer I: went to BlogHer, went cabin-camping at my in-laws lake lot and spent a lot of time looking for ways to keep my kids entertained.
I would write an essay about the loons on the lake at our cottage in Canada. They were teaching their two chicks how to dive for fish, and they were giving them flying lessons. It was hillarious and precious to witness!
I LOVE PENS, too!
I went and liked Tokyo Pen Shop on Facebook...
"This summer was a busy one for me. I spent lots of time promoting my new book, and fit in lots of fun with my family too. I was in the city way more than my husband thinks is necessary, but I'm addicted so what can I do? Can't believe summer is almost over!"
My summer essay: I worked and worked and worked, and also got my daughter ready to go overseas for a year and my son ready to transfer colleges and move out (although he did most of that work himself).
I lived Tokyo Pen Shop!
Most of my summer was spent either getting ready or recovering from two wonderful trips with very cool people. Late June, early July trip was California & Australia. Early August was cruising to the Caribbean. Now is back to reality and frankly, I'm not liking it.
I liked Tokyo Pen Shop's Facebook page.
I would write an essay detailing my trials and tribulations of totaling two vehicles (not-at-fault) in a short amount of time, and my search for high quality writing utensils!
I <3 Tokyo Pen Shop's Facebook page :3
I spent most of the summer trying to entertain the children, but we did take an awesome trip to Houston. My boys were particularly enamored with the Johnson Space Center!!
And I totally liked Tokyo Pen Shop's FB page!!
I spent most of my summer hiding from mosquitoes and working. One highlight was a trip to a friend's wedding.
This summer, I traveled to Scotland, Florida, and Michigan. I trained for a half marathon, and I fed lots of fish and sharks. (But not at the same time.) I helped to paint a world map on a playground, and found out that I know almost nothing about world geography. I saw two outdoor movies and two outdoor concerts. I did not do much outdoor dining, which makes me sad. I did not go to the Navy Pier, the Taste of Chicago, or the Air and Water Show, which makes me happy.
And I went to the Renaissance Faire with G-Money. We ate pickles.

I think I'll always look back on this summer as the one that I missed (a lot of it, anyway). My dog, who was diagnosed with cancer in January, underwent surgery at the beginning of the summer and we spent a lot of time tending to him and helping him heal. Thankfully, now my three-legged wonder is doing great and I'm hoping we can get out more and do more this fall!

I go to Oak Valley Middle School, and I would write about my new amazing pens, the ones before, and going on amusement parks with my friends, Kayla, Britney, Sara, Allison, and Lillian. Mostly my summer was going to Jamaica for one week. I missed the warm water, the cozy Charella Inn, family, kind people (in some parts), and the wedding i was a flower girl in.
