GIVEAWAY! KitchenAid Recipe Collection Cookbook

As I said yesterday, I received a free cookbook from the World of Whirlpool Blogger Ambassador event.  I would like to give this cookbook away to one of you!

Don't get me wrong, it's a great cookbook.  It's just that I have one small cabinet for cookbooks in my kitchen, and it is overflowing to the point that cookbooks are stacked on top of other cookbooks, and it's utter chaos.  I promised myself I would not get any more cookbooks, and then I bought another one anyway, so now I have to put the kibosh on cookbooks for myself.

And my utter disorganization means you can WIN!

Here's a bad picture I took of the cookbook:

And here's a link to the Amazon page on this same cookbook, so you can read all about it.

It has over 400 recipes, divided into 20 tabbed categories.

And as a special bonus, I'm throwing in the teabag I took from the lunch.  It's a really pretty teabag.  It's a three-dimensional pyramid shape with with pretty herbs inside that look like flowers.  Here's a picture of the box that the bags came from:

So ... you can win the cookbook and the pilfered teabag by leaving a comment answering the following question:

What is your favorite kitchen tool/appliance/gadget and why?

(If you're like me and have more than one favorite, just pick one.)

Make sure your actual name or screen name is somewhere in the comment.  If you use the "Anonymous"  comment feature, make sure you sign your name at the bottom.

The contest is open until Saturday, May 7 at midnight.  At that time I will use random.org to generate a random number, and the person who left that comment number will win!  I'll notify you of the winner on this blog, and ask that person to email me with his/her name and address.

This contest is open to everyone except people who live with me in the house with the overflowing cookbook cabinet.  One entry per person, please.

Oh, and this is my first time doing a contest, so I apologize in advance if I screw it up.

I'm in - I'm in! I loveeee cookbooks! Anyway, my favorite kitchen gadget 'must have' is new stockpot. A friend bought it for my for my birthday last year...after hearing me complain incesently about my LACK of a large pot that was heavy and a good bottom to cook big pots of soup and stew in. It is BEAUTIFUL. I love making huge amounts and then freezing it after letting it simmer all day....and yes, you can only do that with a great pot that is large with a thick heavy bottom. Now I'm in the mood to make soup! I'm gonna promote your giveaway on my blog now!

I'm going with my griddle/grill pan. It's a large, flat pan with half smooth surface for making things like pancakes and half grill ridges. It just sits on any burner. I love it. Its larger surface and easy-to-clean-ness ousted the George Foreman grill from my heart.

My vote goes to my ($20?) slow cooker. Although it has been neglected recently, it has helped me kick out some delicious dinners, desserts, and sometimes breakfasts (probably lunches too, I guess).

A very close runner-up is not actually in my kitchen yet. One of the biggest reasons to get married...a KitchenAid stand mixer! Oh the things I could mix....

Also to note: I just [ok, 6 months ago] got an immersion blender. Pretty cool, and I saw someone use one to make a margarita, so obviously need to stop neglecting it as well.

I <3 Brutus, my stand mixer. We are kitchen besties, I don't know what I'd do without him. I remembered that yesterday when I had to use a hand blender to cream eggs, sugar, and butter for cookies. An errant turn of my wrist splattered it all over me. Brutus would never let that happen, he puts butter in its place.

Would love the cookbook almost as I love you. Serious.

I've been thinking about this for a while, because I can't pick my favorite appliance. Maybe my crockpot. Or my mixer. Or my bread machine. Or my microwave.

Actually, my favorite thing in my kitchen is my cookbooks. Can I call them a tool?

Does my ice cream scoop count as a gadget?

(in my world it does!)

Um, if I was honest I'd say my wine corkscrew... but I think I'd rather say my iron skillet. The flavor the food takes on from the seasoning of all other foods cooked in it is one-of-a-kind. I make a mean sausage breakfast gravy and a wicket potato "goulash" of sorts in it... Though, I suppose if I had to say something more gadget-like, like something you have to plug in, I'd have to say my food processor. It helps with creaming soups, and pureeing veggies so I can pretend that the toddler MIGHT not taste them in her grilled cheese. Folly, but I like it nonetheless.

OK, I'm really only doing this because you shamelessly begged for more entries, since I don't do much cooking. Sooo... My favorite appliance is the microwave! I love cooking things in minutes instead of hours and seconds instead of minutes. My second fave is my Keurig coffeemaker.

Crockpot. Oh, nevermind, I see the comment before mine & must change. Love my keurig, even though I feel environmental guilt.

Not sure if this counts, but I am completely in love with my Martha Stewart mixing bowl (which I have in Martha Stewart Blue). It has a handle and pouring-lip-thingie. It makes all cooking tasks easier just by it's very presence in my kitchen. It makes me happy just thinking of it. And I'm not ashamed to say it, no matter how weird it makes me sound!

This looks like a really nice cookbook; thanks for the giveaway! I have a couple of favorite kitchen tools. First is my Santoku knife. Couldn't cook without out. I also wouldn't want to cook without my huge cutting board that covers my work area. I have a hard time working on small ones. Gadget-wise, I really like my shrimp deveiner. It's a silly little plastic thing that peels and deveins shrimp all at once. Much quicker than using a paring knife and peeling.

My real favorite kitchen "gadget" is my stainless steel frying pan. Having grown up with teflon pans, I never thought I would like a non-non-stick pan. But it is the greatest! And it really does make a difference in the way it conducts heat. It's not even that hard to clean. And since a frying pan is not technically a gadget, I'll give a shout out to my Cuisinart mini food processor. It's so cute! And tiny! And perfect for small chopping, grinding, etc jobs. The end.

My most favorite kitchen gadget is my Magic Mill mixer/food processor/grain mill/blender all in one. I really wanted to say my crockpot - I have 5 of different sizes, but that was said above.

I am emotionally attached to our black and decker single layer steamer. The model has been discontinued so we continue to use it despite the fact that it is cracked and stained. It's perfect for steaming veggies, grains, dumplings and beans and lentils of all varieties. And unlike the newer steamers, it's only one layer so it doesn't take up oodles of precious shelf space.

I have many but what I cannot live without is my Pampered Chef stones. Love them!

So many of my favorites have been mentioned, and I was going to say Pampered Chef stones or my brand-spanking-new KitchenAid that I got at a wedding shower last month. (BTW, LeighAnn, now I have to name it.)

Instead, I'll tell you that I love my Pampered Chef food chopper and use it for onions, carrots, nuts, and pretty much anything that needs to be chopped. It has changed my food prep life.

But really... brand-new KitchenAid... I would love to learn through this cookbook!!!
